One day, we may only be holding a photograph.

I met Florrie Cox of Flintville today.

Florrie was holding a photo of her husband Carlton, a four-time Purple Heart recipient and a career Navy man.  She was holding a photo of him because he is dead.  He died last year.  But that's not why she was at the Veteran's Day parade.  She was there to thank those who had served and are still serving.

Florrie Cox who lost a husband and a sailor who gave his career and, eventually, his life to our nation, was standing with 15,000 other people to watch a parade.  Florrie Cox was there to honor her husband, Carlton Cox, who dedicated his life to the United States.

We should all take a moment to thank a soldier and thank their family.  One day, we may only be holding a photograph.
