I'm sitting in one of my favorite sandwich shops enjoying a sub and watching the Ft. Hood Memorial on a tv hung in the corner. As the soloist sings 'Amazing Grace' at Ft. Hood, an older woman stops what she's doing and sings along - loud enough for everyone to hear. Every note was a little off, and her words didn't match every time, but she didn't care. Her husband just eats his sandwich while she sings. After the lunchroom duet is over, bringing patrons to silent reverence, the broken notes are still hanging on the air over the deep-fryer, in a crackly voice the woman announces loudly, "Let's blow this taco stand!"
A blue sky moment on a gray day.
